How to Uninstall a TrentMicro Client with SCUT.exe

Quick reference:

SCUT.exe -noinstall -dbg

The following are situations where you may need to use the SCUT Tool for OfficeScan/Apex One:

  • When the agent gets corrupted, you cannot remove it completely using the usual way.
  • If you forget the uninstall password for the agent.
  • The Agent lost the managing server and you cannot remove it without the password.
  • You want to remove the old version and install a new version of the agent at the same time.
  • The Agent cannot upgrade and you want to replace it with a new version.

This article serves as a guide to download and use the SCUT Tool for Apex One for customers who have a Business Support Portal Account.

To download and use the SCUT Tool, follow the procedure below:

  1. Log in to the Business Support Portal.
  2. Go to Diagnostic Tools > Other Tools.
  3. On the CUT Tool section, click the ZIP File link to open the download page.Click the image to enlarge.
  4. Extract the contents of the .zip file.
  5. Copy the A1 folder to the affected machine (A1 = Apex One, Non-A1 = OfficeScan).
  6. On the affected machine, open Command Prompt as an Administrator and navigate to the directory of the A1 folder.
  7. Run the following command:SCUT.exe -noinstall -dbg
  8. Wait for the uninstall to finish.
  9. Reboot the machine when prompted, and try to install the agent again.

For security considerations, the SCUT tool will expire periodically. You will need to obtain it again from the portal once it is expired. For special cases that you may need a longer expiration, you need to contact Trend Micro Technical Support.
