How to Fix: AS400 Client (Access for Windows) Installation Asking for Restart

When installing the Access for Windows Client, a Reboot pending message may appear resulting in the installation being aborted. Rebooting the PC has no effect on the message.

When this occurs, you should check the following registry path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

1.Look for the following key: PendingFileRenameOperations
2.Right-click -> Rename.
3.Add a prefix ### and press Enter.
4.Close regedit and attempt the installation. Note: Make sure to go back and remove the ### prefix.

The installation should continue.

Delete above key is also a solution.
