These tabs include the user account\u2019s properties, user attributes, and AD attributes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there are\u00a0<strong>a lot\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0<em>hidden<\/em>\u00a0attributes you don\u2019t see. In order to see all the attributes of the object, you need to perform one essential step and discover a separate attribute editor tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the ADUC&nbsp;<strong>View<\/strong>&nbsp;menu, click on&nbsp;<strong>Advanced Features<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/petri.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screenshot-2022-09-22-120817-1024x485.png\" alt=\"Enabling the 'Attribute Editor' tab in ADUC.\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Enabling the \u2018Attribute Editor\u2019 tab<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After switching on Advanced Features, you can see that other&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/active-directory-domain-services\/create-ou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">organizational units<\/a>&nbsp;(OUs) and containers are also visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/petri.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screenshot-2022-09-22-120929-1024x653.png\" alt=\"After switching on Advanced Features, more hidden containers are visible\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">After switching on Advanced Features, more hidden containers are visible<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With that enabled, I can go back to Billy Reinders\u2019s record, and see the new&nbsp;<strong>Attribute Editor<\/strong>&nbsp;tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/petri.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Screenshot-2022-09-22-120953-1024x729.png\" alt=\"Now, the Attribute Editor tab is shown!\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Now, the Attribute Editor tab is shown!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-you-can-see-with-the-attribute-editor-in-aduc\">What you can see with the Attribute Editor in ADUC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve enabled the Attribute Editor tab, you can fully access and edit almost every attribute (of which there are close to 250) of every object in Active Directory, especially the user\u2019s properties. Here is a subset of all the attributes of the user class you can see:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>aduser username<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cn (Canonical Name)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>samaccountname<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First Name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Last Name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Password<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Group Member tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>userprincipalname (UPN)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phone Number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Job Title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Department<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Profile<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smart Card details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Device details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s go back to Billy\u2019s account. I wish there was a way to hide some of these\u2026<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The majority of attributes are unused, or, \u2018&lt;not set&gt;\u2019. We can filter those out to make things a little cleaner.
