You\u2019ll fill it out later.<\/li><li>Click Register to create the application.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll see the details of the application you just created. Keep this open for the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-2-configure-unlock-with-sso\">Step 2: Configure Unlock with SSO<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#step-2-configure-unlock-with-sso\"><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You must successfully test the connection by signing in to both Microsoft and 1Password before you can save an identity provider configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Changes won\u2019t be saved if you can\u2019t successfully authenticate with Microsoft. This prevents you from locking yourself out of 1Password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"21-set-up-unlock-with-sso\">2.1: Set up Unlock with SSO<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#21-set-up-unlock-with-sso\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open a new browser tab or window and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/start.1password.com\/\">sign in<\/a>&nbsp;to your account on 1Password.com.<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/start.1password.com\/security\">Security<\/a>&nbsp;in the sidebar.<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/start.1password.com\/security\/sso\/configure-idp\">Unlock 1Password with Identity Provider<\/a>.<\/li><li>Follow the onscreen instructions to set up Unlock with SSO.<ul><li>Find your Application ID on the overview page of the application you created in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#step-1-add-the-1password-business-application-to-microsoft-azure\">step 1<\/a>.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/active-directory\/develop\/v2-protocols-oidc#fetch-the\">Find your OpenID configuration document URL<\/a>&nbsp;by navigating to the endpoints tab of the overview page and copying the OpenID Connect metadata document.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"22-configure-the-azure-application\">2.2: Configure the Azure application<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#22-configure-the-azure-application\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From the app overview page you\u2019re taken to after completing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#step-1-add-the-1password-business-application-to-microsoft-azure\">step 1<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"for-1passwordcom\">For 1Password.com<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the sidebar under Manage, click Authentication.<\/li><li>Under \u201cPlatform configurations\u201d, select \u201cAdd a platform\u201d.<\/li><li>Click \u201cSingle-page application\u201d.<\/li><li>Copy and paste the first URI from your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/start.1password.com\/security\/sso\/configure-idp\">Unlock 1Password with Identity Provider setup page<\/a>.<\/li><li>Leave the \u201cFront-channel logout URL\u201d field blank.<\/li><li>Select \u201cID tokens\u201d under \u201cImplicit grant and hybrid flows\u201d.<\/li><li>Click Configure.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"for-the-desktop-and-mobile-apps\">For the desktop and mobile apps<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the sidebar under Manage, click Authentication.<\/li><li>Under \u201cPlatform configurations\u201d, select \u201cAdd a platform\u201d.<\/li><li>Click \u201cMobile and desktop applications\u201d.<\/li><li>Copy and paste the second URI from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/start.1password.com\/security\/sso\/configure-idp\">Unlock 1Password with Identity Provider setup page<\/a>&nbsp;into the \u201cCustom redirect URIs\u201d field.<\/li><li>Leave other redirect URI options unchecked.<\/li><li>Click Configure.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"23-configure-api-permissions\">2.3: Configure API permissions<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#23-configure-api-permissions\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click \u201cAPI permissions\u201d in the sidebar.<\/li><li>Click \u201cAdd a permission\u201d.<\/li><li>Click \u201cMicrosoft Graph\u201d then \u201cDelegated permissions\u201d.<\/li><li>Under \u201cOpenId permission\u201d, select \u2018email\u2019, \u2018openid\u2019, and \u2018profile\u2019.<\/li><li>Click \u201cAdd permissions\u201d.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Optional:<\/strong>&nbsp;You can click \u201cGrant admin consent\u201d to give tenant-wide consent for the 1Password application. Otherwise each user will grant consent the first time they use Unlock 1Password with Microsoft. 1Password asks only for read access to the permissions listed above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IMPORTANT<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For a user to sign in to 1Password with Microsoft, the email listed in Microsoft Azure Active Directory must match the email associated with their 1Password account. Note that their User Principal Name can be different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"24-configure-required-claims\">2.4: Configure required claims<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#24-configure-required-claims\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1Password requires the&nbsp;<code>sub<\/code>,&nbsp;<code>name<\/code>, and&nbsp;<code>email<\/code>&nbsp;claims from Azure Active Directory. By default, Azure provides a&nbsp;<code>subject<\/code>&nbsp;claim, which maps the&nbsp;<code>name<\/code>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<code>email<\/code>&nbsp;user properties automatically. 1Password will attempt to match 1Password users to Azure Active Directory users with the&nbsp;<code>sub<\/code>&nbsp;property. If this fails, it falls back to the&nbsp;<code>email<\/code>&nbsp;property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you use&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/scim\/\">automated provisioning<\/a>&nbsp;with Azure, and some of your users have an&nbsp;<code>email<\/code>&nbsp;property that differs from their User Principal Name (UPN), you must create an optional&nbsp;<code>upn<\/code>&nbsp;claim for the OIDC ID Token:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Select the app registration you created earlier.<\/li><li>Click \u201cToken configuration\u201d in the sidebar.<\/li><li>Click \u201cAdd optional claim\u201d.<\/li><li>Choose ID.<\/li><li>Scroll down and check UPN, then click Add.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/active-directory\/develop\/active-directory-optional-claims\">providing optional claims in Azure AD.&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"25-test-the-connection\">2.5: Test the connection<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#25-test-the-connection\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve configured your settings, go back to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/start.1password.com\/security\/sso\/configure-idp\">Unlock 1Password with Identity Provider<\/a>&nbsp;page and test the connection. You\u2019ll be directed to Microsoft to sign in, then redirected to 1Password to sign in. This verifies connectivity between 1Password and Microsoft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"step-3-specify-which-team-members-will-unlock-1password-with-microsoft-and-set-a-grace-period\">Step 3: Specify which team members will unlock 1Password with Microsoft and set a grace period<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#step-3-specify-which-team-members-will-unlock-1password-with-microsoft-and-set-a-grace-period\"><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After configuring Unlock with SSO, you\u2019ll be redirected to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/start.1password.com\/security\/sso\/edit-user-settings\">settings page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"prerequisites\">Prerequisites<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#prerequisites\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you begin, create groups in 1Password for team members who plan to Unlock with Microsoft:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/custom-groups\/#create-a-group\">Create a custom group<\/a>.Give the group a descriptive name, like &#8220;Microsoft testers&#8221;, for clarity.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/custom-groups\/#manage-group-membership\">Add team members to the group<\/a>.If you plan to invite additional team members to test Unlock with Microsoft at a later date, create a&nbsp;<em>new<\/em>&nbsp;custom group for each additional set of testers.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"31-choose-who-will-unlock-with-microsoft\">3.1: Choose who will unlock with Microsoft<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#31-choose-who-will-unlock-with-microsoft\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IMPORTANT<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Users in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/groups\/#owners\">owners<\/a>&nbsp;group can\u2019t unlock with Microsoft and will continue to sign in to 1Password using their account password and Secret Key. This helps safeguard them from being locked out in the event that they can\u2019t access their trusted devices and no one can recover them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/team-recovery-plan\/\">implementing a recovery plan for your team<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By default, \u201cPeople unlocking 1Password with an identity provider\u201d is set to \u201cNo one\u201d. To specify which team members will unlock 1Password with Microsoft, select one of the options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"no-one\">\u201cNo one\u201d<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To turn off Unlock with Microsoft, select \u201cNo one\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"selected-groups-recommended\">\u201cSelected groups\u201d (recommended)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Only the team members in groups you choose will sign in with Microsoft. Learn how to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/custom-groups\/\">use custom groups in 1Password Business<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Choose \u201cSelected groups\u201d under \u201cPeople unlocking 1Password with an identity provider\u201d, then click Select Groups.<\/li><li>Select the groups you want to unlock 1Password with Microsoft and click Update Groups.You&#8217;ll see the number of people in the groups you selected.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"everyone-except-guests\">\u201cEveryone except guests\u201d<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All team members, except owners and guests, will sign in with Microsoft. All existing users will be prompted to switch to Unlock with Microsoft, and all new users will use their Microsoft username and password when joining 1Password. Guests and owners will sign in with an account password and Secret Key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"everyone-not-recommended\">\u201cEveryone\u201d (not recommended)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Guests and all team members, except owners, will sign in with Microsoft. All existing users will be prompted to switch to Unlock with Microsoft, and all new users will use their Microsoft username and password when joining 1Password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"32-set-a-grace-period\">3.2: Set a grace period<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#32-set-a-grace-period\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Team members who already have 1Password accounts will need to switch to unlocking with Microsoft. Specify the number of days before team members must switch to unlocking with Microsoft, and how often they should be reminded to migrate. By default, the grace period is set to 5 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grace period begins when an administrator adds a group after they choose&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#31-people-unlocking-1password-with-an-identity-provider\">the \u201cSelected groups\u201d option<\/a>&nbsp;or when an administrator configures Unlock with Microsoft for everyone on the team. You\u2019ll see the grace period listed next to each group configured to unlock with Microsoft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the grace period has already expired when a user first attempts to sign in, they\u2019ll be asked to contact their 1Password administrator to have their account manually recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you plan to have more team members unlock with Microsoft after initial configuration, we recommend that you&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/custom-groups\/#create-a-group\">create a new custom group<\/a>&nbsp;with its own grace period. This will avoid newly assigned team members needing to go through manual account recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IMPORTANT<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If a team member doesn\u2019t migrate to Unlock with Microsoft before the end of the grace period, they\u2019ll be signed out of all their devices and must contact their 1Password administrator to manually&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/recovery\/\">recover their account<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"optional-add-1password-to-the-microsoft-my-apps-page\">Optional: Add 1Password to the Microsoft My Apps page<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#optional-add-1password-to-the-microsoft-my-apps-page\"><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To have the app appear on the My Apps page, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sign in to&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/portal.azure.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Microsoft Azure portal.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a><\/li><li>Click Azure Active Directory, then select \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/portal.azure.com\/#view\/Microsoft_AAD_IAM\/StartboardApplicationsMenuBlade\/~\/Overview\">Enterprise applications<\/a>\u201d in the sidebar.<\/li><li>Select the app you created in step 1.<\/li><li>Click Properties in the sidebar.<\/li><li>Toggle \u201cVisible to users?\u201d to Yes and click Save.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"manage-settings\">Manage settings<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#manage-settings\"><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To manage your settings, sign in to your account on 1Password.com, then click Security in the sidebar and choose&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/start.1password.com\/security\/sso\/configure-idp\">Unlock 1Password with Identity Provider<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"configuration\">Configuration<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#configuration\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To change your configuration with Microsoft Azure, click Edit Configuration, then follow the onscreen instructions to set up Unlock with SSO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can only save an identity provider configuration after you&#8217;ve successfully tested the connection. Changes won&#8217;t be saved if you can&#8217;t successfully authenticate with Microsoft Azure. This prevents locking yourself out of 1Password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"people-assignments-and-biometrics\">People assignments and biometrics<a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/sso-configure-azure\/#people-assignments-and-biometrics\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Edit at the bottom of the settings page to change which users are assigned to unlock 1Password with Microsoft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To specify which team members will unlock 1Password with Microsoft, select \u201cNo one\u201d, \u201cSelected groups\u201d, \u201cEveryone except guests\u201d, or \u201cEveryone\u201d.&#8221;Selected groups&#8221; is recommended.
