Click on&nbsp;<em>Virus &amp; threat protection<\/em>&nbsp;and on the next screen, click on&nbsp;<em>Manage settings<\/em>&nbsp;under Virus &amp; threat protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toggle On or Off under Real-time protection. Click<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majorgeeks.com\/index.php?ct=content&amp;action=file&amp;id=2376\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turning real-time protection back on is as easy as clicking on the Windows Security tray icon again and click&nbsp;<em>Turn on<\/em>. You can also click on the notification that popped up to quickly enable real-time protection again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majorgeeks.com\/index.php?ct=content&amp;action=file&amp;id=2377\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2: Registry Files<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can edit the registry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open the Registry Editor and go to&nbsp;<em>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows Defender<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right-click on the right window and select&nbsp;<em>New &gt; DWORD &gt; 32-bit Value<\/em>. Name the new DWORD&nbsp;<em>DisableRealtimeMonitoring<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set the&nbsp;<em>Value data to 1<\/em>&nbsp;to disable and delete the DWORD you created to enable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majorgeeks.com\/index.php?ct=content&amp;action=file&amp;id=2379\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3: Group Policy Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Open Group Policy Editor<\/strong>. Windows 10 Home users can\u00a0<strong>enable Group Policy Editor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expand&nbsp;<em>Computer Configuration &gt; Administrative Templates &gt; Windows Components &gt; Windows Defender Antivirus &gt; Real-time Protection<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Double-click&nbsp;<em>Turn off real-time protection<\/em>.
