Moderation is not active by default and should be set up as appropriate by the group owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owners and managers are generally granted permission to determine which messages should be allowed to be sent to group members. Messages held for moderation will appear in the \u201cPending Messages\u201d queue until a decision is made about their distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DEFAULT MODERATION OPTIONS:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Moderate no messages (all messages get sent to members)<\/li><li>Moderate all messages (all messages are placed in pending until approval)<\/li><li>Moderate messages from non-members (messages from members are sent through but messages from non-members are held in pending)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong>Any message that Google suspects might be spam will also be held in \u201cPending Messages\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">REJECTED MESSAGE SETTINGS:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Rejected author notification&nbsp;<\/strong>setting determines whether or not the sender of the rejected message receives a message notifying them that their message did not go through. Options include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Do not notify<\/li><li>Default rejection message<\/li><li>Custom rejection message<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Turn on message moderation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sign in to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/groups.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google Groups<\/a><\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>My Groups&nbsp;<\/strong>and choose the desired group<\/li><li>On the left side menu, select&nbsp;<strong>Group Settings<\/strong><\/li><li>Scroll to the \u201cMessage Moderation\u201d section and choose the appropriate level of moderation<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>[Save changes]<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Approve or deny pending messages<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To approve or deny pending messages, you must have a role with \u201cModerate content\u201d permissions. Content moderators also get a \u201cModerator\u2019s spam report\u201d email that includes any messages held as spam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To approve or deny pending messages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sign in to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/groups.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google Groups<\/a><\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>My Groups&nbsp;<\/strong>and choose the desired group.<\/li><li>On the left side menu, see the&nbsp;<strong>Conversations &gt; Pending&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li><li>To read a message, click on the title<\/li><li>At the top of the screen select one of the following options:Check the box next to the post(s).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Approve (check mark):&nbsp;<\/strong>approves the message<\/li><li><strong>Reject (\u2297):&nbsp;<\/strong>blocks the message<\/li><li><strong>Reject author :&nbsp;<\/strong>bans the author from messaging the group and reports the message as spam<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Posts that aren\u2019t approved are automatically deleted after 14 days.<\/li><li>Posts marked as spam (by Google) are automatically deleted after 7 days.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Posting and moderating permissions of the group<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Owners and managers (when granted) are able to control members\u2019 ability to post to the group.
