In this two-minute guide, I’ll show you a quick and easy method to create a Gmail desktop app.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200d<\/strong>Unfortunately, Gmail<\/a> does not have a downloadable desktop app of their own, so we’ll have to do a quick workaround.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This guide requires you to use Google Chrome<\/a> as your main internet browser. We use a Mac in the examples, but the technique works equally well for Windows users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a Gmail desktop app<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step 1:
\u200d<\/strong>Open Gmail<\/a> in your Chrome browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2:
\u200d<\/strong>Click the three vertical dots in the right-hand corner -> go to More tools<\/strong> ->and then Create Shortcut<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3:
\u200d<\/strong>Make sure that “Open as window”<\/strong> is checked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4:
<\/strong>Right-click or alt+click on the Gmail icon in the dock, and go to Options<\/strong> and then Keep in Dock.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to use Gmail offline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step 1:
\u200d<\/strong>Open settings by clicking the cog wheel icon and selecting Settings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2:
\u200d<\/strong>Go to the Offline<\/strong> tab in the top menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3:
\u200d<\/strong>Check off for Enable offline mail.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4:
\u200d<\/strong>Select the option that best suits you. \u201cKeep offline data on my computer<\/strong>\u201d is a good choice if it’s only you who use your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
