{"id":2972,"date":"2021-01-26T13:36:32","date_gmt":"2021-01-26T21:36:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/SUMMALAI.COM\/?p=2972"},"modified":"2021-03-01T22:38:17","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T06:38:17","slug":"troubleshoot-webex-audio-not-working","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/SUMMALAI.COM\/?p=2972","title":{"rendered":"Troubleshoot WebEx Audio Not Working"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Use below link to test a video meeting on your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webex.com\/test-meeting.html\">https:\/\/www.webex.com\/test-meeting.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have some trouble on sounds, below, please see the solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1\u00a0I Can Hear Others, but They Can&#8217;t Hear Me<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In most cases, if you can hear your colleagues but they can&#8217;t hear you, either your microphone is muted, or not plugged in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check Audio Source<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since you can have multiple microphones, it&#8217;s important to tell Webex which device you are actually using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>While on a conference, select the&nbsp;<strong>Audio<\/strong>&nbsp;menu, then select&nbsp;<strong>Speaker, Microphone and Camera<\/strong>.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/8a3909d074e811eabc1227bfea1731cf.svg\" alt=\"Conference with Audio menu open and Speaker, Microphone and Camera highlighted.\"><\/li><li>For&nbsp;<strong>Microphone<\/strong>, select the mic you want to use. If your mic isn&#8217;t listed, it may not be plugged in.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/d5983a50752311eabd4bb3363b34b8d7.svg\" alt=\"Settings with Microphone highlighted.\">The meter just below will light up when you speak, so you can make sure you have the right source selected.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Microphone Connection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Verify your microphone is plugged in securely.AnalogMake sure the microphone is plugged into the&nbsp;<strong>Pink<\/strong>&nbsp;audio port.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/0ba8ad2069f111ea85f8b94f0e2733f2.svg\" alt=\"Analog audio connection showing pink plug going into pink port and lime green plug going into lime green port.\">DigitalUSB ports may have more or less power, and sometimes some USB ports don&#8217;t have enough power. Try using a different USB port on your computer.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/852882a06a1a11ea85f8b94f0e2733f2.svg\" alt=\"USB port and connector\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check Headset Mute<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some headsets have a mute button. Sometimes this can be set accidentally, so it&#8217;s best to check it first.Unmuted<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/135dd7c0751d11eabc1227bfea1731cf.svg\" alt=\"Unmuted\">Make sure the microphone in the circle at the bottom is not filled in at the bottom.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/2bb672a0751d11eabc1227bfea1731cf.svg\" alt=\"Webex Unmuted\">Muted<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/38a54cc0751d11eabc1227bfea1731cf.svg\" alt=\"Muted.\">The microphone at the bottom will be filled in red when you are muted.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/4a9dfa30751d11eaaae4871dd71f22f7.svg\" alt=\"Webex Muted.\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2&nbsp;I Can&#8217;t Hear Anybody, but They Can Hear Me<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re seeing in text chat that you can be heard, but you can&#8217;t hear anyone else, either your sound is muted, turned down too low, or the wrong speaker output is selected in Webex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check Audio Source in Webex<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since you can have multiple speakers outputs, it&#8217;s important to tell Webex which device you are actually using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>While on a conference, select the&nbsp;<strong>Audio<\/strong>&nbsp;menu, then select&nbsp;<strong>Speaker, Microphone and Camera<\/strong>.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/8a3909d074e811eabc1227bfea1731cf.svg\" alt=\"Conference with Audio menu open and Speaker, Microphone and Camera highlighted.\"><\/li><li>Make sure the proper&nbsp;<strong>Speaker<\/strong>&nbsp;is selected. If&nbsp;your speaker or sound device isn&#8217;t listed, then make sure it is connected and on.<br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/3e48ce60752511eabd4bb3363b34b8d7.svg\" alt=\"Settings with Speaker and Test highlighted.\">Press the Test button to the right to hear a chime to make sure you have the proper speakers selected.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check Volume in the Operating System<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can adjust the volume on your computer, and sometimes this gets set too low or muted by mistake.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/3c3e2870da3111e998ea199b3aaddea9.svg\" alt=\"Windows\">Windows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the speaker near the clock in your System Tray, usually in the bottom-right corner of your screen. You can use the slider to adjust the volume.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/e90c1c806d1411ea85f8b94f0e2733f2.svg\" alt=\"Mac Volume adjustment\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3&nbsp;I Hear an Echo, Static or Audio Sounds Bad<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your colleagues mention your audio quality is poor, or the audio you hear sounds bad, there are a few things you can check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Use a Headset<\/strong><br>If possible, use a headset. Because your mic will pick up whatever is playing from your speakers, including your colleagues and your voice, it can cause a feedback loop. If possible, switch to using a headset and mic, so your mic won&#8217;t pick up the sounds playing.<\/li><li><strong>Turn Off Other Sources of Audio on Your Computer<\/strong><br>Some audio devices don&#8217;t &#8216;mix&#8217; audio well, and can degrade the quality of everything. Turn off any videos, music, or other audio you may be listening to while on the conference.<\/li><li><strong>Replug Devices<\/strong>Analog Devices<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/52218c30694d11eaa29e81bc4f33320e.svg\" alt=\"Minijack\">Analog audio devices connect using a minijack. Both the jack and the port on the computer can end up with little bits of dust which can cause audio to crackle, have static, or drop out. The simple fix is to unplug and replug the device, this removes the dust and tends to fix the problem.USB Devices<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.nexus.support.com\/5b557b9559124044bb566bfc31a09c80\/3e72d4e0694e11eaa29e81bc4f33320e.png\" alt=\"USB Device\">USB Devices aren&#8217;t as susceptible to dust, but because of how modern computers work, there could be not enough power on certain USB ports to power the device. Switch to a different USB port on your computer and try again.<\/li><li><strong>Close Other Programs<\/strong><br>If the audio quality is poor, it&#8217;s possible your computer doesn&#8217;t have enough power to encode the audio quickly enough because other programs are running in the background. Close the other programs you&#8217;re not using on your computer.<\/li><li><strong>Reboot Your Computer<\/strong><br>If you&#8217;re unable to find any programs to close, or if there&#8217;s updates waiting to apply on your computer, it&#8217;s possible this, too, could cause audio problems.
